Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Pratchett and Gaiman

4 out of 5 stars (I really liked it)

Pratchett's disc world book have been around forever, but I've only recently been able to enjoy them.
Gaiman, for me, was unheard of until I saw American Gods on a sci-fi related list of "must read" books.  I read American Gods before I realized there was an HBO series just starting.

Good Omens, now an Amazon Prime series (6 episodes), was fun and interesting from the start. It even got some chuckles out of me while I was reading it.  I've recently become a fan of Gaiman, and this book continues my enjoyment of his work as well as that of Pratchett.

Catastrophes edited by Isaac Asimov

3 out of 5 stars (I liked It)

Overall I enjoyed the stories but I felt the last 2 or 3 were not up to par with the rest of the book. I sometimes enjoy reading short story collections like this, and enjoy the mix of styles when I do. However, I'm just not a fan of the last few stories here.

The Phantom of the Earth (The Phantom of the Earth #1-5) - by Raeden Zen

2 out of 5 stars (it was OK)

To compare it with Tolkien and Herbert is, in my opinion, a bit of an exaggeration. I found The Phantom of the Earth to be OK. It didn't reach out and grab me, but it didn't really push me away either. While it kept my interest enough to finish, I had no trouble putting it down when it was time.

Now that I'm done I'm looking forward to reading The Andromeda Strain, a book I read many years ago. Perhaps I'm too grounded in the greats like Tolkien, Asimov, Clarke, Heinlein, etc. to really appreciate newer authors such as Raeden Zen.
